Lionel Richie is releasing a country album.
The ‘All Night Long’ hitmaker insists he didn’t deliberately set out to create a record in the style, but felt it was a “natural progression” to recreate some of his most famous hits in the popular genre.
He said: “Over a period of time I realised that the songs that I was writing translated to country. As a songwriter I didn’t really start out thinking I was country, I was thinking I was R&B. It was just a natural progression. I am from Tuskegee, Alabama – I’m a country boy. It just felt right to do this.”
The lyrics relate to the “Hunger Games” plot, in which Katniss Everdeen must fight other young people for her life in a cruel tournament put on by their fictional country of Panem. “Everything’s on fire,” Swift sings. “The war outside our door keeps raging on. Hold onto this lullaby, even when the music’s gone.”

NASHVILLE (Reuters) – Country singer Keith Urban underwent successful throat surgery to remove a polyp from his vocal cord earlier this week and is doing fine, the singer’s spokesman said on Friday.
Urban had the procedure on Tuesday, and he will not be able to speak for three weeks, spokesman Paul Freundlich told Reuters. The singer is recovering at an undisclosed location.
One day ahead of the procedure, Urban posted a video on his website thanking fans for their support. (see video)
