How many times have you heard a news anchor utter the words “They will be missed” after the passing of a celebrity? It’s a phrase that gets thrown around without a lot of feeling, in my opinion. The world just lost one of the great comedic minds of the last 50 years in Harold Ramis. When you stop & consider what he brought us as a writer, producer, actor & director, it’s mind-boggling. Whose resume’ can boast this many legendary titles? Animal House, Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, Analyze This, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Meatballs, Back To School, As Good As It Gets & Knocked Up.
The list goes on, but it could easily be argued that he is responsible in some way for some of the greatest comedies ever. For people like me who decided to try to entertain people through comedy, his influence played a huge part. It’s not just an overused cliche’ for me. Harold Ramis will be sorely missed in a world that can use as much laughter as it can get.
