TK1 Blogger Noelle – The Must Get Social Media App
Sorry to be MIA/AWOL as of late, I got caught under a procrastination cloud and couldn’t get out from under it. But, I finally escaped because I need to tell y’all about my FAVORITE new social media app called livemapp. Livemapp is the brainchild of London based duo, Mat Jackson and Heidi Alden (who are super awesome). After moving to central London a couple years ago, Mat and Heidi found it difficult to find cool things to do, without spending a bunch of time trolling the Internet. Out of their frustration livemapp was born.
The livemapp app just launched in May and has a growing community that’s sharing what’s going on around the world. In a nutshell, livemapp takes familiar aspects of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Foursquare and puts them together in a new and fresh way. This new perspective has created an open forum for conversation and connection across borders and cultures through the pictures and descriptions the livemapp community posts. The idealist in me loves that.
I’ve talked about my wanderlust in an earlier TK1 post and livemapp has only helped to increase it by adding several destinations to my bucket list. Since I’m not able to travel as much as I want right now, livemapp is the next best thing. Through my phone, I’ve been able to go on safari in Tanzania, road trip through northern Pakistan, get the local take on the Olympic experience, hike Northern Ireland, visit Ilhabela island off the coast of Brazil, explore Stockholm, visit South Africa, and much much more. And I’ve learned a few things along the way from my fellow livemappers. In return, I’ve let them see what my life is like here in the Twin Cities. I’ve also been able to give a small introduction to country music by livemapping from three Brothers of the Sun shows this summer, including sharing my meeting Tony and Kris at the Nashville show.
Best of all, livemapp has made me want to get out and explore where I live more. By not only getting out to the well known places, but to be on the lookout for the lesser known and the unique. I see the same thing in posts from around the world, I’ve seen the iconic and the unique, and learned how all of it makes a place what it is. As an organic and fluid community, livemapp grows and evolves with each post and I’m excited to be a part of it. Come and join me!

Visit www.livemapp.com to find out more about the app. You can also follow livemapp on Twitter (@livemapp) and Facebook. If you join me in the livemapp adventure, you’ll see me as Noelle_Not_Noel.

Hey Noelle,
what a great blog, I can’t thank you enough for your support. I’m very proud of my brother Mat, so it’s really great to see how much you’re loving what he and Heidi have done.
Catch up with you on Livemapp soon.
Big love,
Simon
