TK1 Blog– What Inspires You?
Sometimes I wonder what inspires people, and when asking myself that question, I started thinking about the things that inspire me. My inspiration comes from a world of places so to speak. I always strive to be a better person. Not sure that I always succeed at that but when I look into the eyes of my 2 year old nephew, or my friends who have little ones I can’t help but smile. Yes kids are adorable and fun to play with, but really it is their world and we are just lucky to be a part of it. Looking at the world from a kid’s point of view is interesting, fun and exciting.
All things that come easy to us adults now are a whole world to conquer in a child’s eye. Learning how to walk, talk, potty train, eats solids, being introduced to the world of finger painting, story time and so on. If there is any advice that I could ever give to kids of any age, teenagers included it would be to enjoy your childhood. Don’t be in a hurry to grow up because once you grow up the responsibilities of adult hood never end.
Tony and Kris inspire me, and actually in a good way. Having the pleasure of having them as my local morning show for many years I knew one of their dreams was to do what they are doing now, having a syndicated show. They did a lot of things when they were here locally, and we fans of their show always had a good time with them, but in all honesty I couldn’t be more proud of them for all they have accomplished and following their dreams. It isn’t easy, and they work hard at least we think anyway, but really going after your dream, making the big decisions to move and follow their hearts is just awesome and they kind of make me feel like hard work really does pay off.
Sometimes reading a book like Calico Joe, or watching a movie like “The Blind Side” gives me inspiration. The story line weather it is fictional or non-fictional just gives me inspiration to be a better person. If you know me as an individual, or have read any of my blogs you know I am a huge sports fan so perhaps that is why I love these particular story lines, or I pay closer attention to them. I could name other movies and books, but really we would be here all day if I did
Another slice of the pie as to where my inspiration comes from is as odd as this sound, being a member of the Chris Young Fan Club over the past year. Being a fan club member of course has its perks, but it really isn’t about that. His fan club is like no other. I had a bigger taste of the Young Country Family at CMA Fest last month and I have never felt more proud to promote an artist as I am him. The other members are truly a family. Whether you have been a member for 11 years, or 11 minutes you are welcomed into the fan club and quickly draw attachments to the other country fans in there. His fan club president, Terri is one remarkable woman who constantly bends over backwards to respond and answer questions, keeps us in the loop of anything going on, and is just so pleasant to interact with. His mom, Mrs. Harris is also very involved in his fan club, as well as a few other admins who really work their behinds off for the fans. You can’t help but love them all, and appreciate everything they do because it isn’t something you see from any other fan club. There is personalization with this fan club, but taking all that aside, what I truly love about this fan club is the way they stick together. One thing that I absolutely love seeing is the reaction of people’s faces when they receive a PIF. I jumped on the “bandwagon” so to speak with the whole PIF and Fan Club but only because I was hesitant to join. By far joining his fan club was the best decision I made relating to fan clubs and country music (and yes I am a member of a few other fan clubs), and I will forever remain a member of his fan club. Oooh by the way, do yourself a favor, if you don’t already own his latest album NEON, please go purchase it, I promise you will fall in love with the album.
My friends and family is another slice of the pie as to what inspires me. They each bring their own to the slice of pie but what it boils down to is that I am very blessed to have the people that I have in my life. They support me in my decisions; tell me when I am being an idiot, laugh with me, and even have those few occasions when they cry with me also. My uncle is currently fighting for his life as he was diagnosed earlier this year with brain cancer, but he has this determination about him to not give up and seeing the support he has behind him, helping him in every way possible, and making sure that he knows that he is not fighting alone is really something to see. Families are never perfect, but when push comes to shove you are there for each other and that counts more than anyone will ever know.
This is already much longer then I thought it would be, but it kind of gives you an idea as to the little things that inspire me. Hard work does pay off, and next year I hope to be singing that tune as well.
